The annual Best Hospitals in America list by U.S. News and World Report cited the Queen's Medical Center as the best hospital in Hawaii.

The rankings noted Queen's 10 high-performing specialities, versus five for Kaiser Permanente Moanalua, according to the list released on Tuesday.

But neither hospital was listed as having specialties which made the national rankings.

No neighbor island hospitals made the list. According to U.S. News and World Report's online coverage, none of them met the standards for strong performance.

Click on the link. Note, they only nationally ranked the top 50 by specialty and neither Hawaii hospital made that list. It's still commendable to have "high-performing specialties".

It's like saying my kid was classroom honor for the year but not for the school. Also how many competitions do the hospitals really have in Hawaii?

I was trying to think of all the other hospitals - Kapiolani, Pali Momi, Castle, Kuakini, Straub, Wahiawa, Wilcox, Maui Memorial, Tripler, VA Hospitals (Oahu and Kauai), Hilo Memorial, are there others?

Queen's is the best that Hawaii's got. Not sure why Kaiser is there.

Belong to Kaiser in southern California and have used the urgent-care facilities at Pensacola and King the last 3 times we visited Waikiki.

Kaiser Moanalua is the best hospital I've ever been in. Top of the line professional nurses and staff. Ongoing renovations making great improvements to the facility as well.

"No neighbor island hospital made the list... none of them met standards for strong performance." - Dispite this, our state government/legislature continues to make it virtually unlikely for any improvements to be made to those hospitals. Why? Because that would mean changes to the unions. That has been the key issue for anyone interested in taking over. If you ever want proof of politicians being owned by the public unions, this is it.
