Pearl City crash victim identified as Waialua man

The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man killed in a car crash Thursday morning as 22-year-old Nico Ballesteros of Waialua.

Ballesteros was a passenger when the car he was in hit a pole at the intersection of Kuala and Acacia streets in Pearl City at 4:19 a.m. 

The 21-year-old driver of the car, a Waipahu man, was arrested 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Queen’s Medical Center on suspicion of first-degree negliglent homicide and driving without a license.

Ballesteros was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

The driver was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
