A 27-year-old Salt Lake man was charged on Tuesday with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing and critically injuring a man over the weekend.

Matthew Bright of Loina Place was charged with second-degree attempted murder, two counts of kidnapping, and first-degree sexual assault. He was being held on $500,000 bail.

Police said Bright allegedly stabbed a 24-year-old man, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition with a stomach wound.

The victim of the kidnapping and sexual assault was a 26-year-old woman.

Police issued a missing persons bulletin on Sunday for Bright and a 26-year-old woman after they were involved in a domestic incident and last seen in the downtown area.

The search ended at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday with Bright’s arrest at Maunalani Circle.
