A 42-year-old Salt Lake woman, charged in the death of a 46-year-old homeless woman, allegedly repeatedly kicked and punched her, police said in a court document.

Kimberly Udo, who appeared in court on Wednesday on a second-degree murder charge, was walking her dog at 4:30 a.m. Monday when she got into an argument with an acquaintance, Sandra Wollaston, at Adams Lane and Bishop Street.

Udo allegedly kicked Wollaston in the head as she sat on the ground, causing her to fall to the ground, police said in an affidavit supporting Udo’s arrest.

Police said Udo allegedly continued to kick and punch Wollaston numerous times until a male witness intervened and pulled Udo off Wollaston to stop the assault.

Udo fled on foot. Officers found her at Hotel Street and Fort Street Mall, where she was identified and arrested on second-degree assault.

Wollaston died from her injuries at the Queen’s Medical Center at 5:42 a.m. on Monday. The case was reclassified to second-degree murder.
