Man escapes from Laumaka work furlough center

Honolulu police and state sheriffs are looking for an inmate who escaped from the Laumaka minimum security work furlough center.

Eric Pixley, 49, was last ween at an 11 p.m. headcount and was reported missing at a 1:30 a.m. headcount Sunday, according to a Department of Public Safety news release.

Pixley was serving time for a probation violation. He will likely be charged with escape after he is recaptured.

Pixley is described as five feet, eight inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes, weighing 170 pounds.

How he escaped is under investigation.

Anyone who sees Pixley is asked to call 911.

Laumaka is a minimum security work furlough center for community custody inmates. It is located a block away from OCCC. Inmates assigned to Laumaka are either actively seeking employment or working in the community.
