The Maui Police Department has identified a 59-year-old Kahului man who was pronounced dead at beach in Kihei on Sunday as Stephen King.

Police said King was found floating face down at 4:16 p.m. about  5 yards offshore at Kamaole Beach Park.

Police said that King was pulled from the water and first responders performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but were unable to revive him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy, police said.
