Man who drowned at Hanauma Bay identified

The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 42-year-old visitor from Maryland who drowned while snorkling at at Hanauma Bay Sunday as Sangjoon Kim, 42.

The medical examiner listed the cause of death as drowning.

Lifeguards brought Kim, of Baltimore, to shore at about 10:13 a.m. Sunday and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until paramedics arrived.

An ambulance took him in critical condition to Straub Clinic & Hospital, where he died.
