Two people on a motorcycle were seriously hurt Sunday when they crashed in the westbound lanes of H-1 freeway near the Hickam offramp, police said.

Traffic was closed in the westbound lanes of the H-1 airport viaduct for nearly a couple of hours after a motorcycle accident involving a 43-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman.

The two were listed in serious condition and taken to a hospital, where their conditions improved, Honolulu police said.

The two were not wearing helmets, according to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services.

The accident happened at about 5:55 p.m. and the freeway was reopened at about 7:43 p.m., police said.
