Kauai police arrested Tyson Yadao on Monday for allegedly running from prison guards who were trying to return him to prison for failing to report in.

Police arrested furlough inmate Tyson Yadao on Monday morning and returned him to Kauai Community Correctional Center.

On Aug. 6, Yadao failed to check in at KCCC, and when guards went to the transitional home where he was staying to bring him back to the prison, he ran from the officers, according to the Department of Public Safety.

He will now face an additional escape charge, DPS officials said

Tyson Yadao was on extended furlough. That means he was allowed to live and work outside of the facility but had to check in at the facility at various times each week. Tyson was living in the transitional home in Lihue.

He was serving time for burglary, theft, forgery and assault against a law enforcement officer.

Yadao’s next parole hearing was scheduled for December.
