The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the 23-year-old man killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday near Aloha Tower, as Johnathan Tyau, of Ewa Beach.

The cause of death was blunt force trauma to his neck and torso, the medical examiner said. The case is classified as a accidental.

Police said Tyau was in the Ewa-bound lanes when he lost control of the motorcycle, struck the median curb and a sign post, and landed in bushes in the median near the Punchbowl Street intersection with Ala Moana Boulevard at 2:19 a.m.  Tyau, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed may have been a factor in the accident, police said.
