Suspect indicted in Kailua stabbing

An Oahu grand jury indicted a 64-year-old homeless man for allegedly stabbing a woman in Kailua last week. 

William Esper is charged with second-degree attempted murder in the stabbing of a 43-year-old woman on Aug. 16.

Esper allegedly stabbed the woman with an “edged weapon” at 1:25 p.m.  on Oneawa Street, according to police.

Esper, who also goes by the name of William Vonesper, was indicted Tuesday. He remains in prion unable to post bail of $200,00.

Esper has a criminal record, mainly misdemeanor criminal property damage convictions, beginning in 1994. His only felony conviction was in 2000 for second-degree criminal property damage
