1 suspect charged, 1 released in Alewa Heights robbery

Prosecutors charged a 19-year-old man Wednesday in connection with a robbery in Alewa Heights Tuesday morning and released another man without charges.

Matthew Nakamoto was being held on $15,000 bail unable to [post bail after he was charged Wednesday with first-degree attempted robbery.

Police said Nakamoto allegedly threatened a 21-year-old man, struck him and tried to take the victim’s personal items. During the struggle the victim fled. Officers apprehended Nakamoto and a 20-year-old man an hour later at 7:17 a.m. on Skyline Drive.

The second suspect was released without charges.

Paramedics treated and took a 21-year-old man in serious condition to the hospital with facial injuries at about 6:30 a.m. after he was allegedly hit in the face.
