Firefighters were battling a flare-up of a forest fire in the Waianae Mountain Range overlooking Makakilo.

At least a couple of helicopters along with more than three dozen state and city fire fighters have been called in to battle the blaze.

The fire is at about the 2,000-foot elevation level along Palehua Ridge, a fire official said.

The forest blaze began 3 p.m. Friday and flared up Sunday.

The fire was initially started Aug. 22 after two 7-year-old boys played with a lighter.
