Kauai police identified the body of a scuba diver recovered off of Brennecke’s Beach as Robert Lee Tipple, 36, of Hanapepe.

A search was launched for Tipple in Poipu Monday morning after two other men scuba diving with him off of Koloa Landing reported that he was missing.

The Kauai Fire Department said the diver’s light was recovered in waters offshore. The Coast Guard assisted the fire department in the search.

Tipple’s body was recovered about one-mile offshore of Brennecke’s Beach.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
