A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon during football practice at Waianae High School.

An Emergency Medical Services supervisor said the boy was hurt after kids piled on top of him. He was wearing a helmet, and did not suffer a head injury, the supervisor said. The 911 call came from a trainer after the 5:31 p.m. incident, EMS said. EMS personnel transported the boy in serious condition to a hospital.
