Honolulu police investigate a hit-and-run accident early Tuesday morning on Farrington Highway in Waianae.

The Medical Examiner’s Office identified two pedestrians killed in separate accidents this month.

Robert Kapopolu Jr., 58, of Waianae died of multiple blunt forces injuries Tuesday at the Waianae Comprehensive Health Center where he was taken in extremely critical condition. Emergency Medical Services said the 58-year-old man was found lying on Farrington Highway near Kaupuni Street near the Waianae Taco Bell after an apparent hit-and-run accident.

Police arrested a 47-year-old woman on suspicion of accidental death and two outstanding warrant a nearby boat harbor. She was released pending further investigation.

The Medical Examiner’s Office said Thomas Davis, 44, also died of multiple blunt force injuries after he was struck in his wheelchair by a marked police car in Kalaeloa on Sept. 5. 

The 34-year-old male police officer, who was driving, has three years of service with the Honolulu Police Department and is assigned to the Kapolei station. Police opened a third-degree negligent homicide case — a misdemeanor. The accident occurred at 8:23 p.m. on Enterprise Street near Wright Street, which does not have street lights. The victim was not in a crosswalk.
