Police were called at 2:30 p.m. today to the parking garage at Ward Center for a child locked in an SUV, said a Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman.

An officer broke a window to get to a baby locked inside a Toyota RAV4, a police officer, who arrived late to the scene, said.

The garage was near Nordstrom Rack, said HPD spokeswoman Teresa Bell.

She said the case remains under investigation, could not provide further details and would not release the age of the child.

The child was not injured.

Ward Center security deferred questions to the Howard Hughes Corp., which owns the shopping complex. Its general manager could not be reached.
