Freshman hitter Kalei Greeley made an impressive return to her hometown Saturday night, putting down 12 kills to go along with 12 digs for her first career double-double, to lead No. 25 Hawaii past UC Riverside 25-12, 29-27, 25-19, in a Big West volleyball match in Riverside, Calif.
Junior hitter Tai Manu-Olevao also had 12 kills and sophomore hitter Nikki Taylor added 10 for the Rainbow Wahine (10-3, 2-0 Big West), winners of five straight.
Hawaii, the top blocking team in the conferenced, finished with a 12-6 edge against the Highlanders (2-11, 0-1). Junior middle Olivia Magill was in on six of the blocks.
Senior libero Sarah Mendoza finished with 20 of the team’s 64 digs. Manu-Olevao added 10 digs for her third double-double of the season.
Fabiana Rosas led UCR with 12 kills and Maddie Hubbell added 18 digs.
Hawaii returns home to host Cal State Fullerton Friday and UC Irvine Saturday.
