Firefighters quickly extinguish small brush fire on Maui

    A small brush fire at Tavares Bay came at sunset Monday and was quickly put out by Maui firefighters.

Maui firefighters quickly extinguished a small brush fire Monday at Tavares Bay, off Kuau Beach Place.

The fire was reported at 5:17 p.m., and when firefighters arrive about 1,500 square feet of cane grass and light shrub brush were burning.

Fire officials said the fire was brought under control by 5:35 p.m. and extinguished at 6:10 p.m.

The cause of the fire was undetermined after investigation.
