A few tradewind showers over windward and mauka areas Friday morning may be replaced by afternoon rains over mauka slopes and leeward areas.

Light tradewinds will become muggy Kona winds by Sunday that could bring hazy vog to Oahu through Wednesday, National Weather Service forecasters said.

The tradewinds, while they last, are not strong enough to prevent sea breezes and the formation of afternoon rain clouds over mauka slopes and leeward areas thorugh the weekend.

Honolulu matched a high temperature record for the date Thursday. The high of 91 degrees tied a record set in 1997. It’s the 13th temperature record tied or set since Sept. 17 in Hawaii.

Honolulu’s high could reach 91 again Friday and temperatures are expected to be between 85 to 90 through Tuesday.

The Kona winds are expected to stick around through Wednesday, when tradewinds may finally return.
