Florence scores Perfect 10 at Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal

    John John Florence of Hawaii posted the first Perfect 10 of this year's Moche Rip Curl Pro, during Round 3.

Hawaii’s John John Florence scored the first Perfect 10 of this year’s Moche Rip Curl Pro in Portugal Sunday, winning the heat and advancing to Round 4, the Association of Surfing Professionals said.

Florence won the heat with an 18.77 heat total, out of a possible 20.00.

Hawaii’s Freddy Patacchia Jr. lost to South Africa’s Jordy Smith in Round 3 with a total score of 8.83 to 15.83.

Kelly Slater fell to Spain’s Aritz Aranburu with a heat total of 6.30 to 12.00.

Sebastian Zietz needed 7.44 to beat Tahiti’s Michel Bourez who won with a heat total of 15.10.

The Moche Rip Curl Pro Portugal is the 10th stop of the 2014 Samsung Galaxy ASP World Championship Tour.
