Fire investigators are sifting through the remains of an one-story home in Ewa Beach that was destroyed by fire Friday morning, displacing two people.

Damage was estimated at $230,000 to the home on Pohakapuna Road and $500 to a neighboring shed.

No one was injured, although one woman was home when the fire was reported at 8:20 a.m. The fire was brought under control 30 minutes later.

The Red Cross responded to help the two residents.

Thirty-one firefighters from 9 companies responded to the alarm. Heavy black smoke and flames could be seen coming from the kitchen and the living room when firefighters arrived.

Friday’s fire was close to another one on Pohakapuna Road that destroyed another one-story home Oct. 10 and was to believed to have been deliberately set.

A 52-year-old man escaped serious injury.

However, fire officials do not believe the two fires are related.
