HILO >> A Kurtistown man recorded on video holding a man at gunpoint while his cousin choked him to death has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports 32-year-old Claude Keone Krause on Thursday entered the plea in the death of Dante Peter Gilman on Dec. 28, 2012, at Gilman’s home in Hawaiian Acres.

Hilo Circuit Judge Glenn Hara will sentence Krause on Dec. 8.

Gilman was a former competition surfer and the son of the late Peter Gilman, author of the novel “Diamond Head,” which was made into a 1963 movie starring Charlton Heston.

Krause’s cousin, 21-year-old Kawena Krause, pleaded no contest to the murder Oct. 7 and will be sentenced by Judge Hara on Dec. 2.

A surveillance video inside Gilman’s home recorded the cousins assaulting Gilman.
