  • A large wave breaks on the shore at Sandy Beach Saturday morning.

An incoming north swell combined with strong trade winds promises to bring large surf to the east-facing shores of all islands and prompted weather officials to issue a high surf advisory Wednesday afternoon.

The advisory is in effect through 6 a.m. Saturday. Waves as high as 7 to 9 feet are expected to roll in to eastern shores, officials at the National Weather Service said.

"Beachgoers, swimmers and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution," officials said.
