A convicted felon was charged Tuesday for having a firearm in a vehicle in Waianae.

Police arrested Edward N. Spencer Jr., 47, and a 54-year-old Makaha man at 6:40 a.m. Monday at 83-200 Farrington Highway.

Spencer, who has no local address, was arrested on suspicion of owning or possessing a prohibited firearm, a contempt warrant and revocation or modification of probation conditions.

The Makaha man was arrested on suspicion of owning or posessing a prohibited firearm, having a firearm on the highway and having an unregistered firearm, but he was released without charges.

Spencer was charged Tuesday with being a felon in possession of a prohibited firearm.

His bail amount was set at $30,000.
