WAILUKU >> A former inmate at Maui Community Correctional Center says she is experiencing retaliation after reporting that a corrections officer sexually assaulted her.
The 33-year-old Kihei woman was transferred to the Women’s Community Correctional Center on Oahu. She says she’s been harassed there and prevented from attending weekly sexual abuse treatment sessions.
The Maui News reports the guard accused by the woman has been indicted but is not in custody.
Police on Oct. 2 investigated her report that she was coerced into a sexual act. She says the guard threatened to report that she was on a social media page in violation of her furlough privileges unless she performed a sexual act.
The woman says she used a camera to videotape a sexual assault by the corrections officer.
