Hawaii island authorities closed Richardson’s Beach in Hilo Sunday after a 6-foot shark was seen in the area, police said.
Police said firefighters spotted the shark about noon and estimated it was six feet long, but couldn’t determine its type. The beach reopened at 3 p.m.
