Police seek information about burglary during Tropical Storm Iselle

Hawaii County police are seeking information about a burglary during Tropical Storm Iselle in which a generator and chainsaw were stolen.

Police said a yellow Durostar generator model DS4000S and a Stihl 14-inch chainsaw were stolen Aug. 22 from the Hawaiian Shores Community Association’s warehouse.

The generator was on loan during the Hurricane Iselle emergency from the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency.

During a state of emergency, enhanced penalties apply to certain crimes.

Anyone with information about the burglary or suspects is asked to call the police nonemergency number at 935-3311 or officer Daniel Murray at 965-2716. Anonymous tipsters may call CrimeStoppers at 961-8300.
