The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 86-year-old Maui woman who was killed Monday while crossing a street in Pearl City as Cecilia Palaroan.

Cause of death is pending completion of an autopsy.

Police said the victim was crossing Lehua Avenue around 6:03 a.m. Monday when she was hit by a 54-year-old man driving a 2004 Toyota truck. The  victim, who was from Makawao, was not in a crosswalk when she was struck on Lehua Avenue near Third Street. Paramedics took her to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition where she died.

Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the accident, police said.

This is Oahu’s 53rd traffic death, compared to 52 at the same last year.
