Rain slowed the morning commute Wednesday morning.
Expect to see rainbows and a spectacular sunset.
High clouds, which helped create a scenic sunset Tuesday, should remain over the islands Thursday, giving residents and visitors a couple more chances to experience it at about 5:49 p.m., weather permitting.
Meanwhile, a high surf advisory remains in effect for east shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island. Surf of 8 to 12 feet is possible through 6 p.m. Thursday.
"We’ve got a pretty good northeast swell. It peaked overnight, but it’s still pretty high," said Kevin Kodama, a meteorologist with the Honolulu office of the National Weather Service.
On the North Shore, the Van’s World Cup of Surfing resumed competition Wednesday morning at Sunset Beach with "consistent double-overhead surf."
The forecast for Honolulu and southern shores of Oahu calls for partly cloudy skies and cool nights in the 60s, giving way to mostly sunny days with highs in the 70s and low 80s and the chance of isolated showers.
The breezy tradewinds earlier in the week should become lighter through the weekend and southeast Kona winds could bring warmer and more humid conditions early next week.
