The medical examiner identified the 80-year-old woman who died last week following a traffic accident on Nimitz Highway as Elizabeth Adams, of Honolulu.

The medical examiner said a partial autopsy indicates that Adams died of coronary artery disease. However, the official cause of death is pending the completion of other tests.

Police said Adams was driving east when she  rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped in traffic at 9:21 p.m. Thursday.

Adams initially did not indicate that she was injured, but later lost consciousness and died after being taken to a hospital.

There were no other injuries in the collision that occurred near Puuloa Road.

This was Oahu’s 54th traffic death, compared to 51 at the same time last year.
