Big Island inmate arrested and returned to HCCC

An extended furlough inmate on the Big Island who failed to report for a scheduled check in on Nov. 25 returned to the Hawaii Community Correctional Center Friday.

Tasha Gardner was arrested on Dec. 9.

Inmates in the extended furlough program work and live outside of the facility but must check in at various times each week, the Department of Public Safety said.

Gardner was serving time for theft, forgery, burglary, ID theft, and credit card fraud.

Second-degree escape will be added to her charges, the department said.
