Police charge suspect in Hilo convenience store robbery

Hawaii island police have charged a 24-year-old man in connection with the robbery of a convenience store in Hilo on Tuesday.

Andrew Sandeen, who does not have a permanent address, was located on the shoulder of Highway 190 in Kona on Thursday and arrested.

During the arrest, Sandeen allegedly assaulted a police officer.

Sandeen was charged Friday with robbery, resisting arrest, second-degree theft and first-degree assault. His aggregate bail was set at $46,000.
