Kapolei man charged with attempted murder

A 45-year-old Kapolei man, accused of trying to kill a 21-year-old man at a Waianae area home Christmas Eve, made his initial court appearance Friday at Honolulu District Court.

Charles-Allen Lewis was charged Thursday with attempted second-degree murder. His bail was set at $300,000.

Lewis remains in custody at the Oahu Community Correctional Center.

Lewis allegedly assaulted the younger man with a dangerous instrument, and allegedly caused serious bodily injury, police said.

Police arrested Lewis shortly after the 7:30 p.m. Wednesday assault on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder as well as for a contempt warrant for violating the terms and conditions of a probation.

Lewis was charged March 14, 2013 in family court with misdemeanor abuse of a family or household member, but in a plea deal pleaded guilty to harassment, a petty misdemeanor.

On April 8, 2013, he was convicted of harassment. Lewis was resentenced May 23 to one year probation in that case. The terms and conditions of his probation included domestic violence intervention and parenting classes.

Lewis was charged April 16, 2012 in a previous case with misdemeanor abuse of a family or household member, but a jury found him not guilty.
