Allegiant Air focuses its business on vacation spots. A jet flies by the Luxor Resort & Casino after taking off from McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
LAS VEGAS >> An Allegiant Air flight carrying 160 passengers returned safely to Las Vegas after a smoke alarm sounded on the plane soon after takeoff.
McCarran International Airport spokeswoman Christine Crews said Allegiant Flight 536 departed around 8:30 a.m. Thursday for Great Falls, Montana, but turned around to make an emergency landing at the Las Vegas airport after the alarm went off.
Crews says fire and rescue crews were waiting for the plane when it landed safely around 8:50 a.m., and they found no smoke or any safety risks.
Allegiant spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler said the plane’s passengers will switch to a new aircraft and continue on their travels.
A maintenance crew will then inspect the original aircraft to determine why the alarm went off.
