Hawaii County police have charged a 22-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of Brian Whetten in Hilo on Tuesday.

Garrett Dahlin, of Honomu, was charged with second-degree murder on Saturday at 11 a.m., police said.

Dahlin’s bail is set at $250,000.

He is being held at the Hilo police cellblock pending his initial court appearance on Jan. 26.

Three other suspects, a 21-year-old man, and two women, ages 22 and 28, were also arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder at their Honomu home Thursday but were released pending further investigation, police said.

Whetten, 43, who had no permanent address, was found Tuesday with stab wounds in a drugstore parking lot off Kilauea Avenue. He died later at Hilo Medical Center.
