A large northwest swell is gradually subsiding but will continue to bring advisory level surf to the islands Sunday through Monday, the National Weather Service said.

A high surf warning is in effect until 6 p.m. for the west shores of the Big Island. Surf from 8 to 12 feet are expected along the Kona coast, lowering to 6 to 10 feet through the evening, forecasters said.

The north and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Molokai and the north facing shores of Maui are under a high surf advisory until 6 a.m. Monday.

Surf along the north shores are expected to be about 15 to 20 feet, lowering to 12 to 16 feet Sunday night. On the west shores, surf is expected to be about 10 to 15 feet, lowering to 8 to 12 feet through early Monday morning.
