Man in critical condition after beating in Chinatown

A 27-year-old man beat a 51-year-old man unconscious, leaving him in critical condition on Saturday in Chinatown, police said.

The suspect and victim were in a confrontation sometime between 9:15 p.m. Friday and 1:40 a.m. when the victim became unresponsive, police said.

Paramedics arrived and took the victim to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police arrested the younger man on River Street at 1:40 a.m. Saturday for investigation of second-degree attempted murder.
