Brasserie Du Vin will close after service Saturday night after nearly nine years in business.

The wine bar and restaurant at 1115 Bethel St. is owned and operated by longtime Honolulu restaurateur Dave Stewart. The closing follows a lease dispute with the landowner, the Plumbers and Pipefitters union, according to a statement.

They wanted a 50 percent increase in his lease rent when 10 percent is standard, Stewart told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

“The plumbers union owns the building that we’re in, and they just don’t like me. I’ve upset one of them somehow and they’ve done everything in their power,” to get him out, he said.

The union has not responded to multiple requests for comment.

For its remaining hours of operation, the restaurant is discounting all spirits, wines by the glass or bottle, and beer, while inventory lasts.
