Hawaii guard Shawna-Lei Kuehu (21) steals the ball from Cal Poly guard Ariana Elegado (5) during the first half of a women's college basketball game between the Hawaii Rainbow Wahine and the Cal Poly Mustangs on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Senior guard Shawna-Lei Kuehu scored 22 points — 18 in the first half — and Hawaii took sole possession of first place in the Big West women’s basketball standings with a 79-64 win over Cal Poly Saturday evening at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Senior guard Ashleigh Karaitiana added 12 points as the Rainbow Wahine (15-7, 7-2) won their seventh straight and 12th consecutive at home in conference play. It was just the second win over the Mustangs in 10 meetings.

Ariana Elegado scored 20 points for Cal Poly (11-10, 6-3). Coupled with a loss by Long Beach State at UC Riverside Saturday, the Mustangs, 49ers and Highlanders are all tied for second place.
