HILO >> A 28-year-old Kurtistown man suspected of using a handgun in a carjacking last month at the University of Hawaii Hilo has been indicted on a robbery charge.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports a Hilo grand jury also indicted Isaac Kamalii on felony charges of terroristic threatening, using a firearm in a felony and possessing a gun as a felon.

Deputy Prosecutor Joseph Lee calls Kamalii “a dangerous guy.”

Police say Kamalii and 43-year-old Bonnie Castro of Keaau approached a 50-year-old Hilo man in his car at a UH Hilo parking lot.

Castro is also charged with robbery. Kamalii and Castro were indicted Wednesday and charged Friday.

Lee says Kamalii was already in custody on unrelated auto theft and gun offenses.
