A Coast Guard crew from Oahu was searching a second day Saturday for an overdue commercial fishing vessel near the Marshall Islands, the Coast Guard said.

Clear Water 02, an 82-foot Micronesia-flagged vessel, was carrying eight Chinese nationals and a Marshallese and was scheduled to arrive in Majuro on Thursday for offloading, but did not show up.

After receiving a report of the overdue vessel on Thursday, the Coast Guard launched an HC-130 Hercules airplane from Air Station Barbers Point.

The plane’s crew arrived Friday morning, searched nearly 400 miles and deployed two self-locating buoys.

Six good Samaritan vessels also assisted in the search.
