Hawaii men’s volleyball wins 10th straight

Senior middle Taylor Averill put down 11 kills with no errors on 13 attempts and senior hitter Scott Hartley also had 11 kills as No. 4 Hawaii defeated Hope International 25-12, 21-25, 25-10, 25-17 in a nonconference men’s volleyball game Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Senior opposite Brook Sedore added nine kills with no errors on 12 swings for the Rainbow Warriors (17-3), who extended their winning streak to 10. Senior libero Kolby Kanetake finished with a match-high 11 digs. 

Dominique Blonski led the Royals of the NCAIA with a match-high 17 kills.

Hawaii is now alone atop the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation standings at 12-2. The Rainbow Warriors had been tied with UC Irvine but the Anteaters (12-3) lost in five sets to Pepperderdine (10-4) earlier Saturday. 

Hawaii returns to MPSF play at UC San Diego Friday,, March 27, the first of four consecutive road matches. The Rainbow Warriors play the Tritons twice then are at UCLA March 30 and 31.

Hawaii’s final home matches are April 10 and 11 against Stanford. The Rainbow Warriors finish out the regular regular season at BYU April 17 ad 18.
