Woman killed in Laie crash identified

A car involved in a fatal single-vehicle accident came to rest in a field in Laie Wednesday morning.

The medical examiner identified the 27-year-old Hauula woman who was killed Wednesday when she was ejected from her car near Laie.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death for Nakita Bryant.

Bryant and a 27-year-old Hauula man were in a car that was going upwards of 100 miles per hour when it hit a fence at 1:49 a.m. at 56-250 Kamehameha Highway and rolled over several times.

Police said both had been drinking.

Both occupants were thrown from car during the crash. 

Investigators were still trying to determine who was driving.

Bryant was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics treated and took the man to a hospital in serious condition.

Officials said the two were traveling south on Kamehameha Highway when the accident occurred fronting Gunstock Ranch, near Malaekahana State Park.

The death was Oahu’s 13th traffic death this year, compared to 18 at the same time a year ago.
