No. 1 Hawaii edges Nebraska in sand volleyball

Nikki Taylor put down 14 kills and teamed with Brittany Tiegs to defeat Alicia Ostrander and Justine Wong-Orantes 21-14, 23-21 for the deciding point in No. 1 Hawaii’s 3-2 win over Nebraska Sunday night at the T.C. Ching courts. 

The SandBows improved to 6-1 while the Huskers dropped to 1-2.

Earlier Sunday, Hawaii swept Cal 5-0. The Golden Bears, also losing to Nebraska 5-0 on  Sunday, fell to 3-6. 

The SandBows trailed 2-1 against the Huskers, getting the tying point at No. 2. Katie Spieler and Olivia Urban rallied for an 18-21, 21-16, 15-10 win over Nebraska’s Amber Rolfzen and Kelsey Fien. Spieler had 24 kills and 18 digs.
