Temperature in Honolulu hits 85, tying record high for the date

A record high temperature of 85 degrees was tied in Honolulu Sunday.

The temperature at the airport tied the old record for that date, set in 2003.

The high Monday is expected to be 83 and will remain in that neighborhood all week, the National Weather Service says.

But the weather will shift mid-week as a front approaches from the northwest, the weather service says.

Winds will become light, and the weather will become dry and hazy.

A band of showers along the trailing end of the front will reach Kauai Tuesday night and move down to the Big Island by Thursday, forecasters said.

Strong tradewinds will spread over the islands behind the shower band. The showers and winds will gradually subside by the weekend
