Suspect arrested in Mililani shooting

Police arrested a 33-year-old Wahiawa man in connection with a Saturday shooting in Mililani.

However, because the 35-year-old victim declined to press charges, the suspect was arrested at the Wahiawa police station at 12:05 a.m. on a weapons charge and a being a felon in possession of firearm.

Homicide detectives initially classified the case as a second-degree attempted murder investigation.

Police said the victim reported being shot in the chest by a man with a silver semi-automatic handgun about 1:15 a.m. Saturday. Paramedics took him from Kealakaa Street and Lanikuhana Avenue  to a hospital in serious condition, Emergency Medical Services reported.
