Easter will be wet and windy in isles, forecasters say

Forecasters are predicting a soggy Easter Sunday as a high pressure system moves in from the north.

According to the National Weather Service, an area of enhanced moisture embedded in tradewinds will move in overnight through Sunday morning, resulting in numerous showers. Scattered showers are expected to continue through the afternoon, mainly in the windward and mauka areas.

High temperatures are expected to range between 81 to 85 degrees, with relief coming from easterly winds of 15 to 25 mph.

Meanwhile, a high-surf advisory remains in effect for the east shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island effective through 6 p.m. Sunday.

Beachgoers are cautioned to expect rough surf conditions and wave heights of 5 to 8 feet.
