Max Holloway is seen during his fight against Conor McGregor in their UFC on Fox Sports 1 mixed martial arts bout in Boston

Waianae’s Max Holloway won his sixth consecutive fight with a third-round submission victory over Cub Swanson at UFC on Fox 15 Saturday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Holloway (13-3, 9-3 UFC), ranked ninth in the 145-pound division, dominated Swanson (21-6, 6-3) for 14 solid minutes before stopping the bout with a guillotine choke at 3:58 of the third round.

Swanson was ranked fifth in the division and had never lost two fights in a row in his career.

"It feels great. It just feels great," Holloway said. "I’ve been inside the gym — in and out of the gym — pretty much living in the gym and am just happy to see all of the hard work pay off."

Holloway’s six-fight winning streak is the second-longest in the division behind current champion Jose Aldo.

Holloway pushed the pace and was quicker in nearly every exchange, battering Swanson with an array of strikes.

The fight didn’t go to the ground until the third round when Holloway nearly finished the fight with an arm triangle.

Swanson’s left eye began to swell up halfway through the first round.

Since his professional debut, Swanson’s only losses came against former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver, Aldo, the No. 1-ranked challenger at 145 pounds in Chad Mendes, No. 2 Frankie Edgar and No. 4 Ricardo Lamas.
