Honolulu Police on Saturday released pending further investigation a 40-year-old Kalihi woman who was arrested in connection with Wednesday’s fatal hit-and-run crash on the H-1 freeway.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and contempt after turning herself in at the Honolulu Police Department’s main headquarters Thursday night.
The fatal crash occurred at about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the town-bound lanes of the H-1 freeway near the Kunia onramp.
Keith Jantoc, a 25-year-old Mililani man who was operating a motorcycle, was taken in critical condition to a hospital and died. Autopsy results are pending.
Police earlier said they were trying to determine whether a sport utility vehicle deliberately struck Jantoc.
After receiving a call Thursday morning about a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot near Oahu Urban Garden Center in Pearl City, police recovered a black Chevy Tahoe with motorcycle parts lodged in its front grille.
A photo of a similar black Chevy Tahoe posted on the suspect’s Facebook page in August has the same license plate as the SUV seized by police.
